ProstateNormally, cells grow and die in a controlled manner. Cancer cells continue to form out of control. Chemotherapy is treatment with drugs that can halt the growth of these cells. However, it can also damage healthy cells, causing side effects.

It is possible that during chemotherapy has no side effects or have a few. The types of side effects you have depend on the type and dose of chemotherapy you receive. Side effects vary, but the most common are nausea, vomiting, fatigue, pain and hair loss. Healthy cells usually recover after chemotherapy, so most side effects gradually disappear.

The course of treatment depends on the type of cancer, drugs used in chemotherapy, the treatment goals and your body’s response. The treatment can be applied every day, every week or every month. You may have breaks between treatments for the body to have the opportunity to produce new healthy cells. You may need to take medicine orally, by injection or intravenously.
