RadiotherapyRadiation is a form of energy released by particles or waves. In high doses, radiation kills cells or prevents their multiplication.

Radiotherapy is a treatment for cancer. Its aim is to kill cancer cells and shrink tumors. Unlike cancer cells, most normal cells recover from radiation therapy. Doctors try to protect normal cells by limiting the radiation dose and delivering treatment over time. When using radiation machines, protect the largest possible part of your body.

Radiation and cancer treatment is applied from an outside source, with special machines or internally, through radioactive substances that a doctor places in your body. Sometimes radiation is combined with other treatments such as surgery or chemotherapy.
