A hysterectomy is a type of surgery where a woman has her uterus removed from her body. A doctor can perform a hysterectomy either through your vagina or through your abdomen.
The normal route is through your vagina, but if severe swelling or another condition exists, the surgeon will remove the organ through your abdominal cavity.
Reasons for the Surgery
Hysterectomies treat many conditions. Most reasons for the procedure are life-threatening or extremely painful, and they may include endometriosis, fibroids or gynecological cancer.
Risks
The chances of complications from the surgery are rare, but some women have allergies to the anesthesia, excessive bleeding or infections. Readmore…
